Captain William Hubert Roylance Court, 9th Lancers, was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. William Roylance Court, of Manor House, Middlewich, Cheshire, and grandson of the late Sir Andrew Barclay Walker Bt. Born in September 1885, he gained his commission in the 9th Lancers from the Militia in July 1907, and attained the rank of Captain in April, 1913. He was killed in Flanders on May 24th.

A few additional details are added in Ashbourne News of the 11th June 1915. Captain Court was slightly wounded in the foot during the autumn of 1914. He was 30 years of age at his death, and was the grandson of the late Sir Andrew Walker, of Osmaston Manor. He was a nephew of Sir Peter Walker and Colonel Hall Walker, and his father had recently retired from the joint mastership of the Cheshire Hounds.
